SilTerra Toastmasters Term End Celebration 2010...

Hi All,

Time truly is passing us by like a bullet train. Seems just like yesterday the term for 2009/2010 started and now its going to come to an end! The trials and tribulations, the fun and games, the pain and gain cannot be summarized in this one single post. :-)

With that in mind, SilTerra Toasmasters Club members decided to put together a Term End Celebration to celebrate yet another successful term, to recognize the hardworking Exco and club members would made this all possible.

The meeting was aptly themed as "Gratitude". :-)

Invitations were sent to other club members as well and we had over some distingushed toastmasters from other clubs like Wendy, Vijiyan (Intergris), Sutharat (Renesas) and Sabrina (Kulim). Thanks for dropping by all! :-)

Vijiyan & Wendy

Sabrina & Role Players for the day

We started of with our Goal Achievers who were on the race to make STMC as President Distinguished Club for 8th year in a row!! :-)

First up was Stephanie with her CC#10 - On Eagle's Wings. She shared with us ways to overcome heartbreak and disappointments. I'm sure we all gained a lot from Steph's speech.
Next up was Mike with AC#10 - . He shared with us his how Toastmasters made him the speaker that he is today. From a person who used to just read from slides during presentation, he became a speaker who could do an impromptu speech! Bravo Mike!
Pala smiling demurely while waiting for his turn...:-)

Our Al

Al recieving his ACB pin

Who doesnt know Al in SilTerra? Who else can make IEEE stuff sounds interesting and entertaining like Al does? Who doesn't inspired by Al's winning speech - Electrons, Oxide Trap? Who doesn't forget Al's cunning humor master joke - hihihihihi remember the props Al brought? The excos of 2006-2007 - can we forget Al's generous lunch meeting?

Since we love Al very very much, we had 2 farewell occasions for him. First is Farewell lunch on 7th April at Secret Recipe. Al's youngest fan of 2 weeks baby also came along!

Secret Recipe pose

Al's 2 weeks fan!

Where's lunch??

On 9th April, we had a special meeting for Al farewell. More special, Al himself was the TOA of the day. With theme "Be an Agent for Change" Al had everyone painting "easter" egg - his boy scout's way to kill time while waiting for other members to arrive - you how much time SilTerran takes to walk from cafe to the meeting room?

Successfully achiving his ACB, Al has been presented with his ACB pin. Also, we had a fantastic farewell gift for Al. Last but not least - group photo.

Our small gift for Al

Thank you very much Al. We miss you. You rocks!

P/s : We know you miss us too. Here is Al's link : First Day at Home After Silterra

STMC went back to nature!

On 21st June 2008 a troop of STMC members take a boat ride to play along with monkey! Wait wait........ Monkey?? Actually it is the Monkey Beach in Penang Island. This is one of the outdoor activity STMC members voted for the year 2008.

Yusri : Dude. Save some for me..
Pala : Dude.... First come first self serving!

Surprisingly, there is a national park on the island of Penang. Penang National Park is the smallest national park in Malaysia. It was declared in 2003. It is located at the north west corner of Penang island. The entrance of the park is located at Teluk Bahang, a quiet fishing village. There are at least 2 trails that visitors can hike. One is leading to Pantai Kerachut where there is a meromictic lake (lake contains both fresh and sea water). This trail will take approx. 1hour to 1hour 30min. one way). Another trail leading from the park entrance to Teluk Duyung (Monkey Beach) and Muka Head (Light House). This trail will take approximately 2 hour one way.

Alternatively, you can hire a boat to go to all the beaches to save time and energy. This is what STMC members does! (Pity Lisa's kids, if we were to jungle trekking for 2 hours! Pity Yusry and Pala also.. ) From park entrance to Teluk Duyung costs RM80 per boat, to Pantai Kerachut costs RM120 per boat. There are boats near the jetty at park office waiting to be hired. Visitors have to register at the park office before starting your journey.

Yay.... We are finally here!!

Yusri : Im full already.. Or am I?
Mike : Pose first... Later we eat summore!

Oh. Where is mum?
